I felt like posting some of my ceramics here. 🙂 I often give pieces away and it is nice to keep a record of what I have made. Most of these are pieces I have kept, but I will be painting some as gifts in the future and hope to post their pictures here as I complete them. I’ll be posting other artsy things here too…maybe.
First one up is my fish bowl. I gave this one away some time ago. I was half-way through completing another one when it disappeared at the studio. 😦
This is my first attempt at ceramic painting. I chose something easy and safe. 🙂 It is hanging on my kitchen wall.
Another early attempt:
This one hangs in my bedroom. It is not one of my favorites but the color is right for my bedroom. The boy put his mouse on it when I took the picture. 😀
This one was an experiment in using dish soap to make bubbles in the paint as well as a wax resist. If you look closely you might see the bubble texture. This is in my room too.
The next plate was probably the fastest one I ever made. I used a stamp I bought in South Africa. This plate is above the fireplace.
The calla lily plate is broken, but I can’t bring myself to part with it.
This was my latest attempt.
A friend likes it so much that she requested a bowl for her birthday. This is what an unfinished, unglazed bowl looks like. I still need to add the seeds to this one, and do the finishing touches. The colors really change after firing.
The next picture isn’t of my ceramics. It is the bouquet I made for a friend’s wedding recently. I am uploading it so my mom can see it.
My sister just emailed me this picture last night. (Thanks Hanlie!) I had forgotten about this piece. 🙂 This one has a similar concept to the fish bowl, but I wanted to use earth tones, hence the bird theme.
From another angle:
I took these pictures at my in-laws’, so I could add them to my blog:
The bee bowl was a christmas present to SIL:
My friend Dana brought this to my house recently so I could post them here too. (Thanks, Dana!)
The vase was made using a different brand of paint (compare the colors of the bowl above). I was dissappointed with the colors on this one (and others) and so I make a point not to go to studios that use this particular brand anymore:
This one was just a little cheapie but it has a verse on the bottom that describes my friend Dana very well (Ps 45:10):
